An introduction to the sporting circle of Monaro High. All the tried and noted softballers and some new players gathered at the oval for a trial. After some solid practice we were ready to face the Queanbeyan team. The team took the field, led by the experienced (Under 10s - ACT) Martin McGee. A crowd hadgathered, and it was Monaro to bat. We got off to a good start, with more than ten home. The feature of the day was the batting of Barry Podlich and Tom Kyle, most of the other batters relyed on walks.
The ball was then thrown to our pitcher, the blonde bonbshell fresh from the baseball diamonds of the U.S.A.. The fielding was good, with catches taken by Mick Zayti, Brett Bieler and David Horne. Horneys arm went, so Tom Kyle finished the game as pitcher, with Monaro running out winners 24-10. Thanks must go to Mr. Forbes, who trained and guided us to our great victory.
