We went one day to stroll. around,
Queen's Gardens lovely lawns;
We saw the shrubs with blossoms crowned,
And roses with their thorns.
We wandered down to where the swans
Were fed by friendly folk;
I had with me a bag of scones,
And one of these I broke.
I tossed the crumbs into the pond,
One big bird stretched his neck,
I guessed of scones he must be fond,
He ate up every speck.
We saw the statue "Peter Pan"
With rabbits all around;
I touched a fairy with my fan;
Of course she made no sound.
We sat upon the soft green grass,
'Tween beds of gorgeous flowers;
A most delightful way to pass
A few spare holiday hours.
